I beat myself up for years and years because I didn’t serve a mission. Now that I’m not active anymore I’m glad I didn’t just for time in life sake. I don’t think I could have handled it anyway with my shyness and anxiety as a teenager or early 20’s anyway.

I didn't know this. The violence I experienced in my mission along with returning with health issues, kept me suffering physically and mentally for years after. At the time, I thought I was a good soldier for the Lord and sucked it up. Ugh. It's wrong to ask/demand/guilt others to do things you aren't willing to do yourself. Thanks for your work on this video.

I have a friend who is an Exmo and he said that he himself regrets doing a mission because he was pressured into it. He didn’t want to but felt like that he didn’t have choice.

WOW. how much more can I learn about the church I lived in for 20 years after leaving 7 years ago. I swear it’s like every week I hear something that I was never taught. I remember the shame, fear and pressure the men in my family felt around the mission topic. I also felt hints of those feelings when my sister served her mission. Come to find out these old kooks never even did it themselves. Evil.

This one stings. I didnt know that about all 3 of those leaders. I do appreciate my mission experience and the work ethic I got from it. So I won’t throw away the sacrifice I made for 2 years. But I regret not leaving my mission the moment I learned about the secret combination of select missionaries in my mission that drove it into the ground.
If the lord needed me for anything, it was that I was the one that found the proof of it and turned it into my mission president. Which ended up getting it rooted out of my mission and even had the first mission president disfellowshipped for allowing it to happen on his watch. I had 2 mission presidents.
