These lab-grown diamonds are identical to natural ones

Lab-grown diamonds are just what they sound like. They are diamonds that are grown inside a laboratory using pure carbon in a process that simulates what happens in nature but just speeds up the process by a few thousand years.

Inside a laboratory in Singapore, workers inspect and select a diamond seed. Then dozens of seeds are placed inside the chamber of a diamond greenhouse. Using a scientific method called microwave plasma chemical vapour deposition, a plasma ball made of hydrogen is created inside the chamber. Methane, which is a carbon source, is added. The carbon mix rains down on the diamond seeds, layer by layer, creating a rough diamond that is cut and polished. The process takes about 10 to 12 weeks.

Good said the lab-grown diamonds simply offer consumers another choice and young buyers like a product they feel is eco-friendly and non-conflict.

You just don't get that diamond feel unless it has atleast 3 deaths of black children linked to it. It's crucial for the whole diamond experience

The real joke is how the biggest jewelers in the world have entire vaults filled with diamonds to keep the prices up.

After watching leo dicaprio's blood diamond, i'd take lab grown over mined any time

10-12 weeks to make a diamond is certainly not long compared to the natural processes. Kudos for the researchers.

Synthetic diamonds have been around for a long time, but the first "confirmed" and documented diamond was created in 1953 by Tracy Hall (an American from Utah).
His method is still used to create most synthetic diamonds, up until recently. Mainly because in the past, synthetic diamonds would always have a color to them (usually yellowish), so were mostly used for industrial purposes, such as manufacturing diamond blades. But in recent years, they've developed a new method of creating synthetic diamonds that are completely clear.... and may one day eliminate the virtual monopoly that DeBeers has on the worldwide diamond industry.
The fact is, the only reason why diamonds are so expensive, is because DeBeers and its affiliates, limits the supply of diamonds on the market (artificially), in order to keep prices high. But as more and more people start to purchase lab-grown diamonds, the price should drop by half (or more).

You can't call it synthetic, it's real 100% diamond, chemically, physically and optically. Infact it has more lustre due to better polishing.

Now the child slavery ring, I mean diamond industry, is trying to make synthetic diamonds seem like they're not real because they weren't mined.

To most of us it will just be an expensive piece of stone, to boast richness or our love to someone

I find it funny that synthetic diamonds are actually purer and a lot more crystal clear. Meaning mined diamonds are now more impure and "dirty" cause they have more tiny non-diamond stuff inside of them. And yet I wonder if big business are gonna advertise mined diamonds as better because they are impure just to keep the mined diamond industry scam afloat.

I am a baby boomer and I would buy a lab diamond. Why not, just as beautiful and less money and they are the same as earth grown. I already have lab grown emeralds and they are gorgeous.

They have same composition so they are really same.. Carbon, heat and pressure

Since I can’t buy a real diamond, I’ll just 3D print one at home.

Diamonds really aren't rare but the reason why they're expensive was first, it is the hardest material and second, the industry created a feeling of luxury in having a well-cutted diamond (considering how hard the material is).
