I will add that as a hairstylist, it is very possible and beneficial for those with fine hair to have layers. If you feel like your hair is flat, you don't have to remove length to achieve volume. You can totally have layers, if it is done right. And if you have fine but wavy/curly hair, layers will help bring your curls to life. There are some rare cases where someone may have extremely fine and thin hair and the approach may be different, and layers may not be as beneficial. But most people with fine hair totally can explore layers with a trusted stylist.

I also think hairstyles can depend on your face shape.

as someone who has thin and fine hair I believed for the longest time that a blunt haircut was the only cut I could have that wouldn't make me look like a rat... until 2-3 years ago when I started cutting my own hair and adding layers to it, and it honestly looks way better now than it ever did before, and even better when I style it (heatless blowout or curls) if you have thin and/or fine hair please try cutting layers and start looking fabulous :)

PSA to all fine haired girlies that may want to have long hair (coming from someone with really long fine straight hair).

Braid your hair to protect it. Itll be healthier and grow longer. :) and you'll get waves when you take it down. 😊

Avoid heat styling if possible.

Use hair masks and oils.

Avoid dying/bleaching your hair.

These tips helped me have way less breakage, and my hair grows faster.

I have moderately thin, VERY fine hair, and I absolutely need lots of wispy layers of varying lengths if I want any volume whatsoever. I tried a blunt cut, it looked grotesque. And right after the blunt cut I shaved the back and had a pixie cut forever. Read: I hated a blunt cut so bad I shaved part of my head in a burst of hysteria lol. It’s mid-length now and I’m going in tomorrow for a trim and more layers.

Would you please do one on male haircuts too? I’ve been struggling my whole life with it! my hair is thin and wavy naturally, but when I blow it, it gets really straight but it doesn’t look good through out the entire day.. just a little bit of sweat and it becomes a whole entire unmanageable mess and when I let it dry by it self messing with it a little bit to get it wavy… it turns in a whole other unmanageable wavy mess most of the times 😭

Coming from someone who has fine, straight hair- very short curtain bangs will take lots of work and styling to upkeep, so think very carefully before choosing that!!

Thank you! Idk why people do not seem to understand this. My sister just made a huge deal about her bad haircut and stylish who did it because apparently she feels as though it wasn't what she asked for and looks nothing like the reference photo. We all, kindly, disagree. Her hair is 75%thinner, and just less hair overall than the photo. Also different curl pattern, but that wasn't the problem. I feel for her because se used to have thick hair. I have really curly hair, but it is thin, and fine. It is difficult finding the balance between shape, volume, length, styling ease, and maintaining thickness rules as to not make it worse. So I need layers for shape and volume, but then I end up with thin ends and lengths. Most obvious on the longest section. Also with a Bob, if you're not down with the blunt cut, pull out sideways/or sideways and downward in vertical sections and cut straight up. This will add graduated layers and you don't have to include all of it. Just pulling it out a little mostly downward will just add a little movement and softness to the edge

Also for shoet hair you need a nice face shape and a good jawlife for it to loog good imo

I found that hair mousse added so much volume to my thin hair. I only got a cheap schwarzkopf one i think

In addition to saying, thank you for the video I wanted to say you're very lucky that your hair is not so thin that's it is unattractive or impossible zo layer n style...its gorgeous.
is beautiful you have a lot of it, maybe not a lot but you have enough so that you can layer somewhat in style beautifully kudos

I have fine, wavy hair, and layered cuts always give me more shape and body. I think there's more to it than can be fit in one short vid.

Do a part 2 I have thick wavy hair it can sometimes be straight too… and I never know how to cut my hair. I feel sometimes it’s too poofy, frizzy and heavy. Short hair doesn’t work for me

Straight and thin hair here, I've had all of those. Right now I'm doing the Rachel.

I agree about the blunt short bob for thin hair! My hair has similar density to yours and when I got that cut I looked like a mushroom 💀

I feel like people with thin hair would look so cute with a Tota hair cut
