As someone with fine, straight, low density hair this advice held me back for so long. Blunt all-one-length cuts give you thick ends and NOTHING else. Strategic layering allows the hair to actually sit up on top of itself with proper products and styling instead of laying flat to the head. I have SO much more volume now than I did when I had the same length but blunt all over.

I kinda disagree, I have fine, thin hair and long layers gave my hair a more full effect. Having one strqight down length throughout enhanced the thinness and gave it less volume and dimension.

I have fine, straight hair and I personally do not like blunt cuts. It makes my hair flat and unappealing so instead I prefer my hair to have subtle layers so it adds volume. I could never do short hair no more tho!

Hairstylist here of 22 years…. All one length cuts will weigh the hair down more, giving the hair no movement whatsoever, causing it to just hang there & look blah. Long layers that give the hair texture will give the hair more body & movement. Don’t EVER give someone a basic ass blunt cut with no texture…. 🫣🫣🫣🚫🚫

Nah I have fine, thin hair. I have bangs and face framing layers as well as a lot of layers in the back and my hair’s cute

Literally just gave my wavy/curly, thin hair curtain bangs and I love them.

I love how everyone with straight thin hair disagrees in the comment !! 😂 I'm also part of this gang and I confirm : this cut is not only boring (you can style it one way and that's it) it also gives 0 dimension to your hair ! Such bad advice 😂

I agree with this is you have fine straight hair. I personally have fine wavy hair so I prefer some layering because it gives me a better shape.

Her haircut looks great for her. The shape of your face makes a big difference with cuts too

Good for you for being smart enough and brave enough to put the truth out there about us within and baby fine hair.... You have no idea how many hairdressers have tried to get me to layer or feather my hair over the years😂 and you are absolutely right a super blunt haircut it looks the best I love you for being a truth-teller❤❤❤❤

“Avoid face-framing layers” *cuts her hair with face framing layers* 😂

So true!!!! I thinned out my already fine hair wanting long luscious layers like I saw on Instagram, had to face the fact my hair just wasn't thick like theirs and would never look the same. But it's okay because now I think blunt cuts are super sophisticated and classy now ❤

Agree with the blunt cut. I have the straightest possible, finest hair -like a toddler. Layers make me look like I’m suffering from a chronic illness, they don’t give my hair any type of movement or volume, they just make my ends even more anemic. I’ve tried at least 6 times when I was coerced into layers. Now If a stylist even mentions layers, I’m out.

As somebody with fine, thin hair, this is just blatantly untrue. My hair lacked life and dimension with blunt cuts, and only became something that I felt proud of when I started getting it layered.

I have extremely fine brown hair, and find this to be untrue in a way. I think getting a super feathery look with too many layers may not be optimal, however, some layering is still quite necessary.
When my hair is all one length and super blunt, it looks like a weighted down sheet of paper on my head.
Also, most people simply benefit from framing the face in some type of way. There is a happy medium to be met with layers and fine hair. It ultimately depends on how much hair you have as well.
People forget that you can have fine hair but a LOT of it, so it's dense enough where having more layers is actually extremely flattering. You can have fine hair and not have a lot of it, or you can have thicker/coarser hair, but not have a lot on your head as well, so it really just depends.
That's what a professional stylist needs to be able to see and what they are for I guess.

In the early 2000s I used to try so hard to give myself layers and bangs to be in style, but my fine hair has never been more manageable at one length. 😅

Finally someone is saying it!!! I’ve had so many stylists try to layer my thin post-Covid hair and it just looks sooo uncared for.
