How Invisalign Attachments are placed?

Attachments are tiny tooth-colored “bumps” that are bonded on to the teeth using dental composites. They are placed in specific areas on your teeth, depending on your Invisalign treatment plan. Since your teeth surfaces are flat, attachments allow the aligners to grip the teeth as they move them in a certain direction more effectively. We use the attachments as added leverage and torque. This is the process of bonding attachments onto your teeth.

I'll give you some tips.

1- Best relief is keeping ice cold water in your mouth specificaly wherever is most itchy. Huge relief!!!

2- Pick a side and pull them out from the outer-side of your wisdom teeth, and it easily peels off of your teeth.

3- Try to keep ur upper and lower jaw seperated, the less ur trays touch each other, the less u feel ur teeth. I know it is kind of tough but by biting ur trays u make ur teeth and gum more alert and sensitive against pain. Not letting ur trays touch each other helps pretending that they r not there.

4- In my case, on the 4th day (after the 3rd day of teeth, jaw and head aches) I realized it started to cause more pain to not to have them on. So try to keep them on as long as u can.

5- Don't try to give your teeth a moment of relief by taking your trays out even for one second because your teeth lean more on going to where they were rather than stay where they r. So you would cause urself longer periods of pain in return of a second of relief.

Done right, the buttons stay on when you take off and put the aligners on. I just began my fourth week today of wearing them. Three of the buttons started to break off so I called my dentist office and they saw me that afternoon to repair them. They are an inconvenience to wear and maintain, and eating food is not fun at all, BUT because I have to watch what I eat and avoiding certain foods (pizza, bread, pasta, chips, candy bars, no candy, no hot tea or coffee or any hot beverages) and eating mostly fruit and soft veggies, reducing soda considerably (anything that can damage or stain the buttons) I have dropped 11 lbs. in three weeks. A few months of inconvenience to straighten my teeth and close the gap will be worth it to me.

I just wish that Invisalign had a site with definitive answers to questions. Some orthos say if you lose an attachment don’t worry, no big deal. Others say the rest of your aligners are based on those attachments and it’s a very big deal. I’m missing two and they are only on for one week!

The glue on the teeth cut my lips and cheeks while eating, visiting my orthodontist twice, she tried trimming but didn’t help 😞

I just got my attachments put on and it was uncomfortable, it hurt and the nerve pain from the curing light was horrible. The girl left the light on my teeth way too long and it hurt and it was hot and I was sweating the whole entire time not to mention when they have to polish off the rest of the attachment glue and that was not pleasant either. Nobody talks about how unpleasant it is to get the attachments put on. If you have sensitive teeth you’re in for some nerve pain getting the attachments on!!!

How do I take off my Invisalign. Feels like they’re glued to my teeth and hurts and is a pain to take off. Never really had this issue with my retainer in the past because I didn’t have attachments

Does the surface of your teeth feel noticably different after removing attachments? Was your enamel a little more rough on the surface after filing away?

My one of the attachment is broke after 20-25 days, and my next appointment is next week, so is it ok to wear the aligners without that one attachment, and do dentist cost extra for new attachment???

My dipshit orthodontist skipped the etching step and naturally 3 of my attachments had come off by the next day, so I just got the materials myself and reattached them.

Cool video. Would have been good to have some explanation of what was happening. I've had attachments put on a bunch of times now and would love to know what is actually going on. Thought of suggesting to my ortho that they get a mirror put on the light so the patient can see 😂
