[FINAL FAREWELL RIDE] Epic 1975/76 Mitsubishi Elevator @ Shaw Towers

This video was filmed on 31 July 2020, which is the final day of operations for Shaw Tower before it finally closes its doors after just over 44 years of operation. This epic Mitsubishi lift that serves 37 floors managed to survived unscathed for many years, despite being rather problematic at times and being used very heavily. It is indeed a miracle that the lift has survived up till now, as 1970s unmodernised high rise lifts are almost extinct in Singapore. In fact, this building was once the 4th tallest building in Singapore, so this Mitsubishi lift was once one of the tallest lifts in Singapore! It is quite apparent that this lift is on its last legs. The lift goes up and down by about 3cm once the lift has stopped, and the lift makes very funny noises while traveling. Moreover, on the 35th floor, the lift was having trouble fully closing its outer door so one would have to force the outer doors outside before the lift could start moving. This lift would be really missed by lift enthusiasts.

Because this was the tallest bldg in Singapore it could be that they splurged out a fortune on the building itself back then with posh features everywhere(but it's obvious that most of it has rotted away now)
