Old racing cars and modern camera technology is match made in heaven. We need more footage like this.

This is the best helmet cam footage I have ever seen. Looks almost like a computer game honestly.

This has been said many times, I know, but... In those days, driving an F1 car must have been an absolutely insane challenge. Manual shift, clutch, no automated systems... Mechanical problems were more common, which gave racing an additional element of uncertainty as to the outcome. And the pilots made the difference. Even today, of course, that's how it is too, but in any case, those who ran in these times were true heroes.

I'm italian, 56 years old, FERRARIsta but, 35 years ago, I bought an helmet model in a shop of Milan, the only one of my life.
It was James Hunt's helmet.
The seller said : "Great choice".
I still have that black helmet...

These older cars with analog gauges and stick shifters were the machines of pure race talent.

Back when just a single onboard computer was housed directly behind the drivers eyeballs!

The sound, power and pure aggression is so much more impressive than the smooth balanced cars of today. Bring this back!

No windscreen, manual shifting, awesome sounding. What's not to love?
The lap seeming around a half a minute longer is one of the differences from today. I'd take that difference in a heartbeat. The Golden Age for sure.👍

Now this shows how current television broadcasting of F1 lacks engagement of the global audience.
This is gold standard F1 cinematography.
Live broadcast directors and vision mixers could transmit a richer fusion of on-board, as well as tracking shots. The latter is the current approach.

The acceleration is so brutal that when he floors it, I was convinced the film was being sped up. Such a violent visceral experience. They truly were gladiators back then.

You know it's gonna be a great race when before the first curve you already left behind 4 cars
