Miso Soup is a staple in Japanese cuisine that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The two essential ingredients that makeup miso soup are dashi (fish stock) and miso (fermented soybean paste). Besides those two, you might find tofu, wakame (seaweed), green onions, and other vegetables in it. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and subscribe for more.

Ingredients:
Miso Paste
Dashi
Wakame (Seaweed)

For a shortcut, try Hondashi, which is basically instant dashi.

I love miso soup! I add a few thin rice noodles, and lots of wakame. The wakame is excellent for lowering my blood sugars, when they go too high.

The miso is added at the end so the healthy bacteria in the miso don't die along with all the health benefits

The strainer trick is amazing. I threw in the miso just as is and was confused about the bits.

You add it at the end to prevent it from losing it's gut health benefits. The heat kills it off. The flavor will remain even if you cook it longer.

I tried it when I ate in Tokyo Tokyo (a restaurant with multiple branches here in the Philippines). I was rather skeptical when I got served miso soup but I thought it was a waste if I didn't eat it.

The only reason I was skeptical of miso soup is due to tofu(all the tofu I've encountered is really stinky and unappetizing so eating it from a soup with no smell was rather pleasant)

i usually just use hondashi, tofu and wakame and green onion as toppings since its hard to buy miso paste in my country... i wish i could make the real miso soup tho--
