Moldova should reunite with Romania just like East and West-Germany did in 1990. In Moldova 82% are romanians and just 4% russians (Census 2014).

3:04 Poor naive woman, she has no idea how much the elderly in Russia get. Putin does not help his own people, why would he do that for others???

All of the people here in this video spoke in Romanian language, except those that said they want Putin, those spoke in Russian. Russia is 500+ km away from Moldova, and Romania is their neighbor, they have a border with them. So tell me again, who is the invader here? who is threatening who here? its like France would tell you that they own land in Slovakia, would that be right? or Thailand is owning land in India. Is that fair to you?! Russia is an invader! Their strategy is to put people in other countries then after years to claim territory from those countries just because there are some Russians living there, the same Russians that were put in place there by Russia. They did it in Ukraine, they did it in Georgia, they did it everywhere in the neighboring countries or where they have an interest. It will happen, they gonna attack somehow Moldova, and sooner or later Kazakhstan, Estonia, Latvia etc.

How are the separatists getting help?
It's not like Transnistria is bordering Russia.

Topic aside: From their last names, you can tell many of them are Russian-speaking but not really ethnic Russian (or they are more Romanian racially).

I don't see it. There's no coastal access to Transnistria. Vladimir would be insane to try and take it via Odessa.

Moldova should unite with Romania. It was part of Romania until 1940, when the Soviet Union occupied it.
The vast majority of people are ethnic Romanians. Alone, Moldova will not stand a chance.

You can always choose your friends but can never choose your neighbours as a country.. hence as citizens you must elect leaders who are wise and matured enough to promote peace existence with all neighbours no matter how you despise them on a personal level.

Moldova must stand up and take control of its territories.

If someone lives in one country, and yet supports an occupier rather than the country they live in, they should just move to the occupier's country if they want to be a part of their country so much...

Russia likes to talk about Russian populations in Eastern Europe but, like to ignore the genocide prosecuted by Stalin against racial and political dissidents in the “liberated” countries of WW2.

As an American, I'm all for self-determination of different regions. After all, America was once a colony of the British Empire.

But, where I'm always skeptical is when there is so much influence by another country.
Russia has troops in Transnistria. If the people could have a free vote on whether to be an independent country, that would be one thing. But, I'd never trust such results because of Russian influence.

The same goes for the Donbass and Crimes regions of Ukraine. They had referendums, but no one believes the results aren't fraudulent.
Likewise with Putin recently being re-elected. His rival was found dead and it's very likely Putin had him killed.
And, the election had Putin get nearly every vote despite mass disapproval with the war in Ukraine.

This is why I'm far more supportive of Moldova taking back all their territory, just as I support Ukraine taking back their territory.

The Russians always call the West "imperialists, " yet this is exactly what they are so guilty of.

So 32 years have passed and it is just now they bring it up? Moldova should be very careful with their dealings with the west and Russia.

Its sad that people will give up their countries sovereignty to gain more in their pension.
Russia may help with money but it will be pseudo investment and you will never get sovereignty back.

I also wonder if those wishing to join Russia have Russian genealogy (grandparents were immigrants from Russia during the days of the USSR?? So they are not truly Moldovan?

If moldova fears russian intervention, then wouldnt it make more sense to speed track their integration into romania?
