Grazie mille Manu! As always a great video and a genius answer! I'm a swede learning italian from English (sadly there aren't many videos out there for Swedish people trying to learn italian so English to Italian is my only option). So naturally It gets confusing sometimes because swedish has different grammar from both english snd italian. But Italian actually have a lot of words similar to Swedish words so at least i get that "for free".

I would like to to see more of when and when not to use definite articles. This does help quite a bit, grazie!!!

For english speakers, it helps to recall that "the" is definite article whilst "their" and "them" are pronouns, despite the first three letters of them/their being 'the'. Similar spelling of the/them does not cause us to confuse when to use 'them' instead of 'the'. In English article/pronoun learning, spelling-similarity is not the correct clue to follow, just like it is not the clue to look for in Italian either. To nonEnglish speakers, it might be hard to see why we do not confuse grammar functions, since they have seemingly 'related' root-spelling and some share pronunciation.

I'm comfortable with pronouns vs articles, but I'm still a little confused about omitting articles (ex. casa, without the la...) simply because article rules in that regard are different in English. But I'm hoping that as I progress with my Italian I'll learn the subtleties and nuances along the way...

Thank you for this explanation. But I'm still wondering whether this means that in the sentence "Dove comprate (la) macchina" I could ditch the article as well, as there are so many cars in a generic way? In my language (dutch, wich, like english, is also a germanic language) you can ditch the article if the noun is plural like in: "Where do you buy cars". So maybe this works in Italian as well like in "Dove comprate (delle) macchine". Although I thought you can't omit the article here. I'm afraid I'm still confused ;-)
