Evan Gershkovich's arrest in Russia had a chilling effect on media coverage, leading several western news outlets to pull their reporters out of the country.

Scripps News sat down with Wall Street Journal Assistant Editor Paul Beckett, whose full-time job now is to work on getting his colleague home. #IStandWithEvan

We have some folks not even given a trial yet and not being charged with any violent crime still sitting in jail right here in the USA too without an option for bond. Some have been tortured, treated poorly on many levels and more. All for being in DC on J6. I don’t care who it is or what they believe the fact is they are being held for years with no trial, a lack of access to counsel and so much more yet the press just ignores those cases.

Shouldn't he have known better than to be there! Why WSJ sponsored his presence in this obviously foolish endeavor. Great risk > short reward. Burden to others with little real impact! Martyr syndrome???

Political prisoners like the incarcerated patriots who demonstrated in DC on J6. The ambassador wasn’t thinking of them.
