My mom the other day was asking me why I get so mad when people disrespect the flag. I told her, "Mom, if someone loses their son or daughter, that's all they have. If you lost me while I was in, that's all you'll have of me. I don't only love the flag for what it represents, but the sacrifice that has come along with it. That piece of fabric you see there, is the type of fabric you'd get if I were to die while serving this wonderful country. " She then looked at me & said, " I'm sorry. I'll never forget my younger brother's funeral. We somehow held it together until the Marine honor guards folded the Flag. I felt like every cell in my body was going to uncouple from their neighbors. When the Flag was presented to my mother, we started to heal. The Supreme Court may decide a hundred times that desecrating the American flag is "protected speech", I will not, I cannot, stand by and watch a bewitched Leftist lunatic defile that which is sacred to all true Americans.

Never going to forget my moms funeral. These are more than just Marines. I ran away after getting the flag and one of the marines ran after me and just hugged me until I was ready.

We don't have these in the UK, Usually it's the deceased's friends who carry the coffin. but either way it's heartbreaking to watch a coffin go by dressed In the US flag or British flag.
