My grandfather's brother was a Marine. He died at the beginning of the Bataan march. Approximately ten year later after WWII ended my grandfather received news about his brother's remains being found and identified. It was so heartbreaking for my grandfather he died on that same day when he learned about it. My great uncle rests at Arlington National Cemetery. Having PTSD emotions can become strong especially on days like Memorial Day.

Let us all remember that freedom is never free, and that we as young men must remain prepared if the call to service summons us.

Well done!! This day means more to me now than it has ever meant. Brave soldiers that fought, and paid the ultimate sacrifice to keep our freedom. They are the reason why we can hug our children and be with our families and live through special days, FREE! Somehow I wish I could talk to every one of them and thank them from the bottom of my heart. RIP dear brave ones! And thank you!

Thank you to all the great men and women who have served and sacrificed so much; especially the ones who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
It is a with great sadness that I list these young men who tragically died in
AAV accident on July 30, 2020 due to negligence of their commanders as well as equipment failure. These young men didn’t have to die the way they did.
As a mother of a Marine veteran who was friends with some of these men it breaks my heart to hear and see the pain in my child’s face when they talk about this accident.
They themselves have took up the burden of their friends deaths since their commanders don’t want to except responsibility for their negligence.
As their team leader in a prior MOS they feel they let them down by not training them well enough to survive this type of accident. My child has tried to take their own life because of this accident they feel they failed their friends and was not their to save them. As a mom who still sleeps with her phone even though my child is out of the Marines. The nightmares still haunt them and I will always be there to answer their call day or night to help them through the struggles of dealing with their nightmares they suffer from their time serving and losing 6 close friends and numerous others that they knew during their time time of service.
It has been the hardest on my child losing their friends especially with the loss of Cpl. Wesley A. Rodd because he will never get to be there to watch his son grow up. My child would gladly give their life to have saved all of them but mostly Cpl Rodd who had a newborn son. They will never be forgotten my child will make sure of that. This is totally my opinion and should not reflect on my Marine veteran.

Rest in peace Marines and Navy Corpsmen. You will never be forgotten.

1. Cpl. Wesley A. Rodd, 22, of Harris, Texas, a rifleman, husband ; a new father. Who left behind a his wife and a newborn son who will never know what a terrific father he had.

2. Lance Cpl. Guillermo S. Perez, a 19-year-old rifleman from New Braunfels, Texas,

3. Pfc. Bryan J. Baltierra, 18, of Corona, California, a rifleman.

4. Lance Cpl. Marco A. Barranco, 21, of Montebello, California,
a rifleman.

5. Pfc. Evan A. Bath, 19, of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, a rifleman.

6. U.S. Navy Hospitalman Christopher Gnem, 22, of Stockton, California,
a hospital corpsman.

7. Pfc. Jack Ryan Ostrovsky, 20, of Bend, Oregon,
a rifleman.

8. Lance Cpl. Chase D. Sweetwood, 18, of Portland, Oregon, a rifleman.

9. Cpl. Cesar A. Villanueva, 21, of Riverside, California, a rifleman.

Future sailor here I’m going into the Navy to become a corpsman and then a Navy SARC. I use to not really understand how Memorial Day was so important but as I train and look at Ukraine and other families without their fathers mothers brothers sisters family friends who have lost their loved ones. I now understand how important this day is for all or the USA. Thanks to all who gave it their all.🇺🇸
