I do have one question if you don’t mind: in all of the books I’ve read and research I’ve done the melodic minor scale It said to be use for melodies while the harmonic minor scale is used for harmonizing. Whenever I try to fit these together I have nothing but trouble. I don’t understand how they can be used together . Are they supposed to be completely separate? Basically, When I write a melody using the melodic minor scale, and then try harmonizing with the cords found in harmonic minor scale, it does NOT work. What am I not understanding ? Anything on this subject would help me a lot. thank you
