Sharing thoughts on history and also how to adapt is a good talk. I believe in the extra requirements or research part. A bit before project and also in a role we call Pathfinder to do research and also rd testing and scoping as a senior role where they can test ideas or libraries evaluation or db or data sourcing work and then teach it back to the team. So space is given to derisk and learn about the space ahead of the sized work.

This post forget that the main aspect of agile is to deliver product people want and waterfall methods is not it... because by definition requirements are highly unknown/incorrect at the beginning....
