...we all know the reason is because we have a desert belly and a food belly, and our desert belly is always empty

This sort of information should be taught in every school. A "how you actually work" class.

Interesting to see it's more complicated than the brain just going "ME WANT SUGAR".

So many of us had parents who would not allow you to eat dessert, until you "cleaned your plate".

When I was a kid, I used to say I have a second stomach just for dessert. Many years later, my nephew started saying he had a "dessert stomach", too, and I was shocked that the experience was so universal! Now I know why :D

How appropriate. Im watching this as I eat powdered donuts less than an hour after gorging myself sick on chicken parmesan.

In japan the word betsubara means a second stomach for yummy food especially dessert.

Everyone knows we have a separate dessert stomach. Duh.

Coincidentally, _ghrelin_ is also what your stomach says when it's hungry.

I'm curious about people with ADHD. We already have low dopamine level and need stimulation. I could eat pizza or eggplant parm every day for a month and still find it delicious. I can eat an entire thing of ice cream and want more. For the past many years for breakfast I ate the same type of sandwich and it is still yummy. I've heard about the getting-tired-of-specific food is to introduce more nutrients hypothesis, but I don't think it always applies.

I never have room for desert. Saves me a lot at restaurants.

If pizza counts as dessert this would explain why I always have room for pizza...

Hey Anthony, great presentation!! You are very articulate and it doesn't feel as someone just reading a screen. Hope to see more videos with you!

When I was little I imagined that the stomach was separated into cylindrical compartments for each food group: a vegetable stomach, a meat stomach, a dessert stomach, etc.

EDIT: Whoa, lots of people also thought they had a dessert stomach! Glad I'm not the only one!

I’ve never understood this saying. If I’m full I’m full. Seeing dessert at that point usually makes me feel gross.

Because I'm WEAK!

* collapses in tears... and pie *

Mostly pie.

I imagined it was something like this. I often end up giving a portion of my meal to either my dad or brother because I’m sick of that food even though I could absolutely eat more of something different
