DIY Laundry Detergent | Queen Acres: Episode 4

Ivy and Darienne teach you how to make homemade laundry detergent!

Ingredients:
1 Cup of Borax
1 Cup of Washing Detergent
1 bar of washing soap
1 quart of water

Steps (Liquid):
- Grate down bar of soap with a cheese grater
- On medium heat, melt soap with a quart of water
- Fill 5-gallon bucket with 4.5 gallons of water
- Add borax and detergent, mix
- Add melted soap and water mixture
- Mix together
- Add 1/2 - 1 cup of detergent into washing machine while the water is running to get clean clothes!

Steps (Dry):
- Blend all ingredients (borax, detergent, and soap) in a food processor
- Use 1 - 2 tbs of detergent into washing machine while the water is running to get clean clothes!

Any tips for adding scents to the detergent? Or removing that soap scent?

I have an LG Washer where I put liquid or powder detergent into a dispenser and throw my clothes in at the same time and the water will run while my clothes are in the washer. Can I treat this DIY detergent the same as if I were using regular dry/powder detergent? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question, but I’m asking because you mentioned in the video about stains. Thanks gals!

This sounds so good but borax is super rare and expensive where I live... 😢

And those of us fortunate enough to live in the American southwest can mine our own borax. But for that, I think you would definitely want to remove your jewelry. And maybe your wig.
