If you want to overshare it is a red flag. Very red, very big. It is usally some traumabond. And the therapist is just interested in you, does not really care in these situations. You are not really that special.

Caring therapist makes you calmer not like a roller coaster and alone without them.

Thank you for this. My fear of becoming overly attached has prevented me from being honest with my therapist. This has helped.

I struggle with this A LOT!I think another "symptom" of this is getting obsessed over your therapist and thinking about them a lot.I personally do.
This video was so amazing! Please keep making videos like this one.I can't get enough of these videos of yours with this topic and thank God, you do have quite a few.You have made me realize I am not crazy for this attachment and that what I experience is normal and you have even helped me understand why it happens to me.

My therapy has ended for about a month and a few days, and I am still grieving over the loss of my therapist. I had an intense attachment where I felt I was heard and that I could share my artistic side to her. Towards the end, I had recognized the void that would inevitably follow since termination, and I am saddened that no one has been able to see the 'beautiful' side of me and I don't think anyone will at this point in time. As a result, I've been going through crisis-related episodes (I thought I would keep it on the down low since I want to be mindful of others in case it will trigger anyone) and it frightens me that I do need ongoing help related to the dependency issues that I currently face.

I think my strange therapist wants to make every one have feelings for him and put him on a pedestal. And how easy is that when the patient is in vulnerable and volatile state of mind.

I used to have a strong attachment to my first therapist.. and because of it, I got referred out. It ruined me.. I fell into a deep depression.

The basics of transference is lied into the fact that the patient will project personal relationships into the therapist, so ofc sometimes you will see a parental figure or a friend through your therapist

I knew I was attached to my therapist, but it was mutual so I'm still feeling really lost. I know you say they shouldn't take the caregiver role but she did. She would say "the things you need from your mom, you can find in others". She was the nurturing, inspiring, kind soul I needed. Now I just feel lost since she's retired.

Holy cow! I think you inadvertently hit a nail on the head for me with the statement of the therapist filling a hole. My parents divorced when I was 10, then I was eventually on my own at 18. From then until now, I never understood why i was so driven when I had a significant other, or close female friends in my life, and dormant when I didn’t. I become attached because They fill the void.
