The great guitar sell off - only keep what you LOVE.

Two weeks ago I made a vide about wanting to downsize my "collection" to only have guitars I truly love and focus more on creating music that many of you seemed to feel similarly about. I did indeed put my money where my mouth was and have sold seven guitars with more to go, but is sticking around and more importantly - do I already have regrets?

A bunch of the guitars in this video are for sale at my website -

Hey don't thank me. I didn't get you to 11k. You did. You know I've left everything behind and started over three times. And I mean everything. Like, put the dog in the car, grab a change of clothes and my wallet, and relocate. There is nothing more liberating than nothing owning you anymore.

The way you lit up when you pulled out the black Tele. Haaa. Awesome.

love my cv jaguar but that’s probably not good enough to fill that rack! Great job on culling the collection. One day I’ll do it. Cheers on 11k!

As a new guitarist I became obsessed with the next guitar, but learned to appreciate what I have. Telecaster just suits all my needs and it’s a bond I didn’t expect

Fascinating selection man! I was shocked to see so many teles make the final cut. Ofc the whole time, I was thinking "which Jag did he keep?" 🤣 - this vid is a month old now, we need an update!

Working on turning three really great fender American original series into one incredible once in a lifetime stratocaster purchase. Partially motivated by your previous videos discussing this type of thing. Great to see that you’re happy with the decision

Thanks for sharing! I started the process of taking pictures and listing them online after watching your first video. I agree that it feels good to do it! And also agree that I now know which guitars best suit my style and needs after owning different kinds (all killer guitars!). I have a FCS ‘62 Jaguar in Black I am selling in case you’re interested for the last spot in your collection. It sounds amazing!

Glad you’re keeping the Heritage and 65 Jazzmasters. They’re some of the best of the best.

I have the same Heritage Jazzmaster but with Antiquity I pickups (suits it really well) and an AO60s Jazzmaster with Antiquity IIs. They’re definitely my main guitars and have been since I got them.

As for the Jaguar, I’d look for a 65 or AO60s.

Thanks, Jim. Congrats on 11K subs. I've been with you from the start, mate, nearly 4 years ago now, I think. Thanks for all the great videos.🎸🎸👍👍

I did a similar sell-off a little over a year ago. While it initially stung a bit, afterwards I felt pretty good; odd since I sold the most expensive "dream" guitars I'd bought (Collings acoustic, 80s Hamer, korina G&L with P90s). I kept several of the lower priced ones, like the 2002 Fender Highway 1 Strat, my first serious guitar; a Martin 000-15 (sapele), my first good acoustic; a Fender Japan '62RI Tele; and my go-to, a 2008 PRS Mira. I was tempted to use the proceeds to buy a Gibson 335, something I wanted since I began playing, but after a while I decided, nah, I have all I need.

I’m planning on doing a similar thing soon too

Even after this sell down, your collection is way bigger than mine. Haha. I used to have 15 guitars, down to 4 and never been happier. There’s no right answer, everybody is different. But for me it was amazing to scale back.

Nice job and video! So you’ll be on eight guitars? No acoustics? I'm down from 12 to six electrics, which I could get to four (would like a tele baja):
1. Gibson Les Paul Deluxe
2. Gibson Les Special tv yellow p90
3. Gibson ES-335 60s cherry
4. G&L S-500 Fullerton
5. G&L Fallout Tribute
6. Eastman T386

I've bought a guitar from Jim (Harley benton st modern plus) and he was super thorough and careful in the process. Can't recommend him enough as a seller

No, not the Les Paul! Haha, but for real, I've been on a streak lately of cleaning up my collection and I like where it is right now, but there's still one or two more guitars I'm considering selling on!

Also, congrats on 11k subs!

Good job man! I'm still struggling to purge some from my collection, but I know I will have to. A guitar not played is a waste.

And I totally get you on the Telecaster thing. Absolute lonely Island guitar
