Hi Tom, did this work for you? How long did the pool take to clear the algae? I just did it and brushed the pool as you did. But then I read I might get extreme cya levels?

Anyone know why 50 pounds of Trichlor granules are so much more expensive then 50 pounds of tablets? I do this on my pool deck, no bags, gloves or mask. (I do where shoes) then sweep and hose the smashed up pile into the pool. I then brush the pool algae and trichlor all together. The trichlor does not dissolve easy or fast. I use 8 tablets (4lbs. 90% FC) to shock my 20, 000 gallon pool with 20ppm FC and yes this lowers the ph and adds cyanuric acid (come spring time there is room for this after winter rains). After that a day or 2, I use sodium hypo chlorite to maintain an elevated FC level and bring the PH back up... I came here looking for ideas to make a, "pool tablet grinder". Guess I am not the only one smashing tablets🥴

This turned out to be bad as the tablets are stabilized chlorine. The cyanuric acid cannot be easily neutralized so you have to drain the pool to get it back to a balanced level
