What exercises use agonist-antagonist paired muscles?
When you are designing supersets for your clients, you need to know what exercises use agonist-antagonist paired muscles. said another way, you need to know about opposing muscles.
At level 2 anatomy and physiology you learn what an agonist and antagonist muscle is, and you also learn a series of exercises each with a prime mover. well, that prime mover is the agonist of the exercise. To find the antagonist, you need to know the opposites.
There are 6 main joint actions that we use in gym-based exercises.
Each of these has an agonist and antagonist muscle associated to it.
Once you know the joint action you can work out the exercises... this video explains the key 6 joint actions and exercises that use agonist-antagonist paired muscles.
