0:06 - as the Pope recently said that all religions are equal and lead to god, a Pope is the very last person you should ask to help you understand the bible - although the Archbishop of Canterbury is not really any better.

I think it important to consider that The Great Commission was to go and tell Christ's story - each of the gospels does this - so regardless of the rest of the bible (old testament and new) - Jesus believed that hearing any one gospel was sufficient for his purpose. You don't even need all four that were reported in the new testament - any one will do (for his purpose).
