Lewis you need to set up an "okay I'm coming to the states counter.Every time you claim that the counter goes up like the national debt counter. That will give you motivation to really do it

Not sure if you know but in the US lemonade is not carbonated like Sprite. Its juice made with lemon juice, sugar and other fruits to make different flavors.

33:57 Culver's Concrete Mixer's are aaamaaaazing.

Random story: When I was pregnant forever ago, I'd order brownie, cookie dough, peanut butter cup, salted caramel, caramel, fudge with chocolate ice cream. One time a guy on the intercom said "WHOA! Sounds like some serious cravings!" I pulled up to the window (I'm under 5ft tall and its very obvious when I'm pregnant) and he says "OHHHH you are having serious cravings!". So then whenever I'd go there, he was always working I'd say "Its the serious craving pregnant lady again" and he remembered my order! I was able to tell his manager one time to please give him a raise because he was an absolute delight. ❤

Native Oklahoman here. The reason Braum's is known for ice cream and burgers, is because the restaurant chain is owned by a cattle farm. They also have grocery sections to sell fresh produce that's also grown on the Braum's farms. Almost everything they sell comes from something they've grown.

Taco Tuesday is actually a thing everywhere in the USA. It’s literally where you go and get tacos from a restaurant, or make homemade tacos to share with family and friends and coworkers. Yes, coworkers - it’s very common for an office worker, for example, will announce to their coworkers that, “It’s Taco Tuesday!”

She is criss crossing the country, from coast to coast.
It is a HUGE country.
When you come, unless you have a few months to travel around, you should pick a region and explore that .
Then another one another time.
Most of us Americans have only tried a few of these places because of how far away they are from where we live.

33:49 - Smash burgers are thin patties 'smashed' into the griddle while cooking. They get these crunchy parts to them that just taste, so good. But it's mostly just a style of cooking a burger patty.

Pup cups are common at some fast food places, and I swear my daughter’s dog can recognize their signs on the highway. He starts whining when she turns in the drive. He gets lots of pets and a yummy treat, so you know he’s trained for life to want to stop in when he sees their stores. Excellent marketing ploy!

The reason we have a lot of sub shops in the us isn’t because of hot weather. Rather, in the 1800s and 1900s a lot of people from Europe immigrated to the us to start a new life. A lot of immigrants brought their culture to the us with them especially food. As such Italian immigrants who settled in and around the New York area as well as the Midwest began opening local delis where people could eat authentic Italian food including subs and pizza

Milo's tea is available by the gallon jug or in individual serving bottles in grocery stores and convenience stores throughout the south and midwest. Walmart carries the brand.

We don't just have state wide competition, food is very competitive here. Everyone, from professional chef to home cook is always looking to up their culinary game.

And yes, the American fast food chains you have in the UK can't even compete with our mediocre diners.

You have to remember, the U.S. is a big country and many of these local favorites are not available to everyone, unless you want to travel long distances. Granted, some of these businesses have spread to many states and throughout regions, but mostly the options within your region are what you are most likely to frequent.

22:18 Growing up in NM this was the spot to be... dont sleep on Blakes. Their whole menu is phenomenal, but their green chili breakfast burritos are where its at. The green chili burgers are also amazing. Every time I visit home, this is a mandatory stop. Well worth the effort.

I’m from the USA and yeah, alligator is a thing and it tastes exactly like chicken with a slight fishy flavor, and it’s really good fried. If you are ever in the south that’s definitely something you have to try.

The Braum family originally ran a dairy. Ice cream came from that. But a byproduct of every dairy is beef: male calves which are not needed for the business. Now, Braum's is a weird mish-mash of fast-food restaurant, ice cream parlor and grocery store. Sometimes they have really good deals in the grocery part, too. Like 2 gallons of milk for $6!

I'm a Texan and while I occassionally eat at Whataburger, I would not recommend it as the best in Texas anymore. The company was sold to a Chicago based corporation in 2019 and the ingredients are not as good as when the original owners had it. I always recommend to try a locally owned business because they are almost always better than fast food chains.

Fun fact, when the original KFC guy sold out due to being unable to run the business anymore came back to have some of said chicken, he said the chain management had ruined it, and proceeded to go on a tear over it, the chicken was tough, the batter was burnt, and so much more, and all those changes were made for the sake of "Speed" that RUINED his original recipe. Not to mention we're apparently still with a recipe/set up that reduces the quality of the food from KFC's original form.
