Most of the interactions between Al and the neighbor Marcy were written by the actress playing Marcy.
The actresses playing the heavier women wrote a lot of the jokes as well. A lot of them were comedians themselves.
Married With Children was hugely successful series.

To this day there's never been a more brutal show. Thing is, everyone on the show dished out the insults and everyone took the insults too. It truly was an equal opportunity insulter. Great times!

As someone else said, everyone on the show has brilliant moments where they own Al too. Definitely not a sensitive show, but in an over sensitive society it is a great guilty pleasure.

Most any American '90s kid will tell you this was one of their favorite shows. The ones that were allowed to watch it, anyway... I know my grandparents were kind of horrified that my parents allowed my brother and I to watch it as kids. Very hilarious show. And for all that the Bundy family were rude to each other most of the time, there were some wholesome moments thrown in every once in awhile, too.

The great thing about this show that you'll see if you watch it, is that all the characters had amazing comebacks to each other. Peg was the queen of comebacks and the kids never held back to each other or their parents. It was very much the anti-family sitcom, but they always stuck up for each other if attacked by anyone on the outside 😂

Aww yes, Married With Children was the best show. After a miserable day at work, I’d come home and laugh all the way through it. All the characters were my favorites.
