16' M2 MacBook Pro - One Month Later!

It's rare I make a video on why I'm returning an Apple product, in fact, I think this might be the first ever... but I did return my 16" M2 Max MacBook Pro after a fair shake using it, and I think it's important to tell you why I returned this product and why you might not need to upgrade if you already have a fast Mac.

Another CNTRL-Z "Why I Returned It" from a Tech YouTuber that tells us to buy a product, we buy it and they RETURN it. His honeymoon period was over (the return policy deadline was just a cooincidence) and he of course had a very hard decision to make. His decision was to keep his own $$$. But please listen to 14 minutes of justification, it's great content.

Coming from a 2017 15" MB Pro, the 16" MB Pro M2 Max is quite the upgrade for me.

I don't know in which world this guy lives in. 3 hours of 4k gaming at full settings is not enough ? at the airport he would have power outlets, in a coffee shop, even in the airplane... if you want to spend 3 hours playing a game at the beach or something, you are doing it wrong.

I have been using a M2 MacBook Air since its release. I get 2 days of battery life viewing YouTube, Safari and email. I’m also able to do everything I need to do with video editing. This 2.7 pound powerhouse beats every Mac I have ever used from 2020 and before. And I am able to work with 8k raw video.

What I got from this: “I prefer the smaller size, but it’s a good computer”

I’ve had the 15” model for years and couldn’t go down to the smaller size. I like the 16 size better but that’s just my opinion. You can’t base a purchase based off of others’ preferences.

I bought the 16" M2 Pro Max MacBook, mid tier chipset, as this is my first MacBook, and I wanted (needed) the equivalent to my high end HP i7 17" Omen. Everything I have thrown at it, it just does it effortlessly, unlike the HP I retired which would slow done and hang too often. I expect a good years long run on this machine, tired of having to replace the Windows Laptops every couple of years. Time will of course tell. Love the battery life.

Thank you! This was a very helpful review, where you did your best to explain choices even when leaning into bias. I currently have an older Intel MacBook Pro and am looking to upgrade, and this just solidified my choice to go with a 16" M2.

Skip to the end. THE entire beginning is just a shopping network up sale. All of these youtubers use click bait "regret, returned" etc, only to praise the heck out if these gadgets, while non of the rest of us lowly peasants, can afford any of these things to begin with. The remorse rant isn't even that remorseful because it's not like money decisions comes difficult for these youtuber shopping networks.

Upsale: if you're upgrading from a 2019 Intel or if it's your first Mac from.a PC. Definitely pick this up. He didn't recommend the one he is staying with, the 14" M1. Instead he's selling you up, go right to the big boy.

I'm getting the 16in because it's much closer to the 15.4 that I'm using. Theoretically, I know it makes sense to buy a cheaper m1, but I think that the other upgrades are important also.

I laugh, when people say, that laptop was 4.5 pounds and very difficult to carry and now I have a laptop that weighs only 3.5 pounds and easy to carry. Looks like people were carrying notebooks like donkeys a few years earlier and did not complain.

14" M2 still throttles. The 16" does not or not run as hot when compared to the 14"

I did return an iPad Pro 12.9 with the magic keyboard and pencil to buy the new MacBook Pro 14 M2...base model. Amazing product, amazing sound. I did use the stage manager on the iPad and really I actually really enjoyed that. The sound on this MacBook is something else as is the image quality of that miniLED screen. Outrageously expensive...I am still impressed or maybe not that Apple continues to divide touch from non-touch devices. The iPad Pro 12.9 price is the same as the base model Macbook 14 I got with 512G with the accessories of course. I wanted that screen but the iPad still has too many limitations to be anything but for those with money to burn but I can justify the laptop to do everything.
