I started welding since 4 days but I got it. Angle matters bc you don’t wanna stick your electrode to the surface n you want a continuous arc. When you hit it straight at 90 degrees the wire inside the electrode coating go straight to the metal n it will stick n you’ll lose your arc but if you hold it at >=20 n <= 70 degrees you’ll keep getting a good arc which is important bc you need to melt down the inner wire to burn the upper coating. But it isn’t all, you’ll have to maintain the distance b/w electrode n surface too. If you go too far from the surface say 5mm you’ll get a strong irregular arc which will destroy you’re project so you’ll make sure that your electrode don’t go much far away from it n you’re maintaining a 1-2mm distance b/w them. I learnt everything myself, never took any lessons from anywhere. I’m an electronics engineer btw.
Now the thing is. It doesn’t mean that I know or understand everything about welding in my 3, 4 days welding career. Im still learning n I wanna know 1 thing n I’m searching for it everywhere on the internet.
Q: when I use 2.5mm 6013 at <=60amps it sticks a lot, and when I use >=60 && <=80 amps it melts down my thin square tube! What am I supposed to do now???

Nice weld result. Its definitely tricky business welding vertical down and trying to keep in front of the slag. High amps is obviously part of the answer.

People. Do not think welding downhill is acceptable for anything even remotely structural. Theirs a reason we have to pass uphill tests to remain certified. (Source: 19 years structural welding)

Solo es recomendable soldar descendente si el espesor del material es delgado

Такую толщину сверху в низ варят только болбесы.вот 1 мм если тогда метал сварится, а здесь изделие даже температуру не поменяло почти разве на пару градусов.

Rupanya seperti ini cara welding turun, mantab terima kasih

Maybe I was taught different but the only time you weld down his is on 1/8th inch or less of material. When you run down hill your root is shallow.

That slag is almost as easy to clean as that of the ESAB version. Must have iron powder too which acts as a release agent.

The slag of my Lincoln 6013 was very sticky and much harder to remove.

With this 6013, no beating or bashing whatsoever. No slag flying all over the place.

The Tianjin J3E12 (Chinese) 6013 electrodes are not designed for welding downwards. It even states that on the electrode packet. It just creates big mess and no weld penetration. In general, for me I wouldn't weld downwards with any 6013 rods. It's too fluid.

Use 6023 downhill only on very thin material, because there is no enough penetration when you go downfill with 6013, it is low penetration rod.
