I recall this often being followed by Rose Royce's Car Wash on our old AM stations. The 70s were a groove, for sure!✌️🤎

When this song was on the charts, there was a rumor that a girl died in the studio when the recorded it. If you listen close, you can hear a scream. But, after the internet came along, we found it was just a silly rumor.

What I love about The Ohio Players and a lot of Bands and Group of that Era is the way they Layered the Music with so many various sounds and rhythms... LOVE THEM

In 1975 the Ohio Players had two albums, "Fire" and "Honey" that hit number one on Billboard. They had three songs that hit number one that year, "Fire", "Love Roller Coaster" and "Sweet Sticky Thing". "Honey", "Let's Love" and "Fopp" were all hits off the "Honey" album.

As a kid when this came on the radio I would lose my shit. One Saturday I waited all day to record it. My dad hooked up the radio to our reel to reel tape recorder, and I nailed it. I still have it 48 years later!

The sound of the 70's! This takes me back. This music makes you dance until you drop.

That's where Larry Blackmon of Cameo got the "ahh-ow" sound from. Remember "Word Up"?

Ohio Players - Sweet Sticky Thing, I Want To Be Free, Skin Tight, Let's Do It, Funky Worm. Btw, the 70s music scene rulz, ok?

Ok now this is better. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have a great cover of this as well 😊 yes it is skating rink music but no roller blades then it was roller skates with four wheels. Roller blades don't come until later decades😊 Ya'll mentioned KC and the Sunshine band. Rob Zombie/White Zombie does a cover version of KCs " I'm your Boogie Man" that's ok as well😊

Wore this song out at the skating rink!!!! There were many bangers during that time the skating rink was the place to be, 9 out of 10 song would have you burning calories like you

The huge rumor with this song was that there was a snuff killing when you can hear a blood curdling scream. Of course it wasn’t true, but in the pre-Internet age, it was amazing how widespread the rumor was.

I always loved the tune and also enjoyed the remake by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Hope you give it a listen.

This came out when I was in high school, and the rumor was that the screaming at the end was actually someone being murdered in the studio next door. We were so stupid. LOL.

A contemporary of this banger was "Slide" by the group Slave a rock/r&b masterpiece that I think you would both love.

Great funk!
Lot of rappers have used this beat as a sample. BTW.
