I waited until Valentine’s Day to approach my gym crush. I figured she likely would not have a boyfriend and still be at the gym at 7pm on Valentine’s Day. She was walking in the treadmill. I got on the treadmill next to hers and asked if she wanted to race. She looked confused and said, “I’m sorry?” She was Eastern European so her English was off and I probably stammered awkwardly. I said again “Let’s race!” and she laughed nervously. I managed to get her first name, Margaret. I was happy that at least I’d be able to say Hey Margaret the next time I’d see her and eventually marry her. Of course, I never saw her again.

I'm not proud to say that I did the same things regarding my gym crush a couple of years ago. I slowly started to like this girl more and more, but never found the balls to ask her out. Just some random chit chat and nothing more. When I finally asked her out she obviously rejected me, and it really stung, because I took months to do it and meanwhile my interest for her fermented. A mistake I'll never make again
