FYI, check your relationships too. I was in a horrible relationship when the acne started. Hope this helps someone!

I'm almost 40, had hormonal acne since high school, it's finally clearing up because of your advice. Now my teenager kids can have an easier time too. Thank you!

Friendly reminder to wash your make up brushes, pillow cases, watch out for heavy hair conditioners leaving residue, keep your (sun)glasses clean, the lapels on your winter coat etc etc. I started using my fingers to do most make up and my breakouts have gone away almost completely. Everyone is different though.

I’m 23 now, I had clear skin for the most part in high school. Last year is when I experienced hormonal acne, it was extremely depressing but I did go on adaplene gel( 0.1%) it was horrible at first my skin was purging and it was so hard not to pop every pimple but after the purging phase passed (3 months) I finally had clear skin. It’s the purging part that most people stop at because they are insecure about how there face may look. But I’m here to tell you if you can withstand the purging phase the return is soooo worth it!

Hormonal acne came into my life at 37. Although at 46, it’s mostly controlled, it still likes to pay me a visit from time to time.

Polycystic Ovarian Disease may be the " hormonal imbalance" causing this acne. It is so rarely discussed, and can cause ovarian cancer.

I tried retinol, every retinol out there ! It made my skin so much worse ! At first I was flaking and breaking out a little, I thought my skin was just purging and I figured this was normal, but after using it for serval months, I realized that it left my skin feeling very sensitive and irritated, my breakouts were even worse, and I was developing painful cysts. Prior to using it I still had acne but the retinol made it worse. I stopped using it and my skin stopped feeling irritated and red. The breakouts weren’t as bad anymore. If you have sensitive skin or active acne do not use it ! I know skin care products work different for everyone but I’ve heard comments here and there about retinols being bad for active acne or sensitive skin types. So glad I’m not the only one !

No bc fr! I literally had such clear skin up until about 2 years ago and now I’m completely fucked by uneven tones, acne scars, and little bumps all over my chin. Sucks so much dude😭😭

Yes, this was also what happened to me. I never had acne in my life, even during my puberty. But then things changed three years ago. When I started jump into adulthood life ( I was 24), my acne just popped out of nowhere. It was all over my face and months tried drugstore skincare did nothing to my face. Ever since, I tried my best to get a regular treatment and consultation with my derm, as well as using prescribed skincare. Along with that, I fixed my diet and lifestyle. My acne has always been an ups and downs process for me. I never had a clear skin since, there were only moments when I acne less flared up or when I had a little post-acne marks. Now I'm learning to accept my skin, though I'd never give up on my treatments and medications. At the moment, I have a few acne marks and one active pimple. Hopefully I will soon reach my dream skin soon😊.

I'm 35 now, been struggling with scars and hiperpigmentation for around 2 years. After having clear skin all my life, I started to breakout like crazy at 33. And surprisingly after trying 1000 things, retinol was the only thing that helped my skin...

Late 30s and the hormonal acne came out of nowhere. It’s so bad now and hitting my confidence 😭 working with a derm now but skin makes slow progress. I am the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life!! Makes no sense haha 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hormonal acne came into my life 2 years ago at age 37 like some other ladies have mentioned. It's comedonal acne but only concentrated in 2 spots on my face on the jaw line directly across from the corners of my mouth. Only in those areas, not my whole jaw line or anywhere else. I could draw two circles around those two areas. It's a pain in my butt cause I never, ever used to break out in those areas at all.

Been struggling for the past few years, finally realized my hormonal acne is caused by my IUD birth control. Getting hormones balanced is my #1 priority. They are so out of whack!

I had perfect skin till hormonal acne hit me like a freight train in my 20s. Salicylic acid compounded my issues. Every time I tried it, my face would explode. Exfoliating acid and retinol saved me.

I’ve been on 100mg Spironolactone for 4 months for hormonal acne and my skin is flawlessly clear! After struggling for literally twenty years I finally at 40 years old found a doctor who got my skin together! Yes, I take it daily and probably for the rest of my life, completely worth it.

I had to go on antibiotics, Spironolactone, benzoyl peroxide. And I used to get steroid injections. Now I'm past menopause and acne is the least of my problems now. Life was good before puberty. Has sucked ever

Had clear skin in high school, then looked like a leprosy victim when I was 19. The birth control pill plus tretinoin (yes, a retinol!) saved me. Considering Retin-A was originally prescribed FOR acne (not anti-ageing), this video confuses me. Yes, your skin will get worse initially as it purges, but it Retin-A effectively resurfaced my skin and is the only reason I wasn't left with acne scars for the rest of my adult life.
