I put 5000k cool bulbs in my ceiling recessed lights & 2500k warm bulbs in my lamps. That way when I need it bright to clean or paint, i have the best of both worlds.

Happy Aloha Friday! Your educational interior designing training really shines through, especially when you offer precise measurements. I even wrote them down. I am loving seeing how beautifully designed your new home has become. Kudos to your talent!

I so agree with you on getting the height of certain elements correct, or it sets off the whole design of a room. For instance, drapes that don't touch the floors is like wearing a pair of jeans/pants that are awkwardly too short. And having a chandelier or hanging lights too close to the ceiling rather than lowered over the dining table or kitchen island (so it casts light on the items on the counter or table, which is why you have a light fixture there in the first place) makes it look like you installed it incorrectly (you didn't leave enough wire to hang it low enough). A good rule of thumb is that the bottom of the light fixture should be about 10" higher than the top of the head of a person seated at the table/counter. It's low enough to cast light on what's below without interfering with seeing the person seated across from you. Thanks for all your tips!

Thank you so so much. I have come to a standstill decorating because it is not "perfect". It doesn't HAVE to be. I just needed to hear how to make it LOOK perfect. I can't wait to tackle these projects with the items I already have that exist and I haven't used them yet. 💚

Amazing tips as always! I hope you can make a video like this for a bathroom! I'm going to renovate mine maybe this year and I'd appreciate tips like these, especially for lighting! :D

Is it okay to have warm lighting in the kitchen? My kitchen and living room are connected in an open floor plan, and the kitchen lighting is 6500K while the living room is 3000K. The color temperatures seem to clash!

Thanks! I just ordered some 4” tassel trim for the bottoms of my too-short sheerish living room linen drapes. ❤

If you have cats, it helps to have a space between the bottom of the drapes, and the floor. Otherwise, it might become a cathair fringe drape, as they like to lay there.
Just saying, there are adjustments for lifestyles.
