i’m a transgender man (FtM) and in the process of getting a hysterectomy this year. periods and risk of pregnancy will be gone, alleviating that source of anxiety and dysphoria. thanks for the short yet informative video. great research for those looking into if this is right for them

i’ll be keeping my ovaries as suggested by doctors and other transgender folks because they will continue to produce the estrogen my body will need. everyone needs estrogen and testosterone; the appropriate balance between hormones is different for everyone. nature should be taken into consideration, not ignored. without my ovaries, my body likely wouldn’t produce an appropriate amount of estrogen for itself. i’d probably need to take estrogen supplements alongside my testosterone injections for years. plus, i’ll get to keep my eggs if i do decide to do something with them!
