Highlight All Negative Numbers in Red in Excel.
In this excel tutorials for beginners, I’ll teach you how you can highlight negative numbers in red. When we calculate in excel, sometimes we need to highlight or mark negative numbers. But the question arises how do I show negative numbers in red in excel?
In this excel tutorial, I’ll show you how you can mark negative values in red. You don’t need to use “VBA” for this. I will use “Conditional Formatting” to solve this. I am using excel 2019 for the demonstration. Please follow the instructions below to highlight all negative numbers in red in excel.
Step 1: Select the data range where you have negative values
Step 2: Click on “Conditional Formatting.”
Step 3: Click on “Highlight Cells Rules.”
Step 4: Select “Less Than.”
Step 5: Write “0” and click on the dropdown to select “Custom Format.”
Step 6: Change the “Fill Color” to “No Fill.”
Step 7: Change the “Font Color” to “Red.”
Click Ok twice, and this will highlight negative numbers in “Red” in excel. This is amongst the coolest ways to mark negative numbers in red in excel. You can use this to highlight negative numbers red and positive numbers green or any other color. So, this is how you use conditional formatting and highlight in red if negative appears in excel.

Great video! Thanks! All the others never say to enter ZERO. Should be obvious, but I was entering $0.001. Thanks for walking through it step-by-step!
