In this video, I will show you how I make my dog's raw food and why I feed them the raw diet.
WHAT I FEED my DOGS as a PET Professional!
Today we doing a cost comparison between the top-rated pre-packaged pet food, fresh food, and homemade raw food. Which choice is cheaper….We will look at Carna4, Ollie fresh pet food, and my raw diet.

My top choice for feeding kibble is Carna4 ($93.00 12lbs bag):
Here is a video explaining the details of this food-

Grooming your dog's health with food (series playlist)

Raw food ratio:
If your dog is at an ideal weight:
The average RAW FED DOG
will require 2 to 3% of its body weight
in raw food daily
2.5% is maxed in most cases.
For example
Big Gus weighs 65 lbs…
His Feeding Formula is
65 x .02 (%) = 1.3 lbs of raw food per day
I feed Gus twice a day so split 1.3 lbs
in half to feed morning and evening...
Equals .65 lbs each feeding.

Things you can add to your dog's kibble to boost their health…
• Sardines (only in spring water)

• Ground Flaxseed (link)

• Tumeric, black pepper, and cinnamon
How much to give your dog:
1-10 lbs.: 1/16-1/8 tsp. of powder or ½ capsules
10-20 lbs.: 1/8-¼- tsp. or ½-1 capsule
20-50 lbs.: ¼ tsp.-1 tsp. powder or 1-2 capsules
50-100 lbs.: 1 tsp.-2 tsp. powder or 1-2 capsules
More than 100 lbs.: 2 tsp or the equivalent of an adult human dose of capsules

when we do our raw dog food we measure the organ meat separately to ensure each feeding has the proper amount. We also are making up, no exaggeration, about 250 pounds of food at a time and seal them with our FoodSaver machines. We've been doing this for over a yr now.

My dog died young from cancer and I’m certain it was her food even though I had researched at the time. My puppy now is loving Ollie.

I so wish I knew you when I first got my dog. I would’ve saved a ton of money and had a healthy long living dog. God bless you for all the effort and love you provide your dogs.

My wife and I are inspired to go raw. I was a little hesitant until I seen your video! The bulldog won me over!

Because I can't afford a heavy duty $600+ meat grinder at this time, I'm just cutting up raw boneless thighs into chunks and then I buy bags of 'bone dust' from my local butcher. It's very fine bone that comes off their saw blades. Everything else is easy. My dogs have been on a raw food diet for about 5 years now. Also, I use only frozen veggies as this method of preservation has the highest nutritional content. Their coats are glossy and they are spunky and full of life....even my 14 y/o pit/chihuahua mix. It's a wonderful feeling to know you are taking care of creatures that offer incredible unconditional love and unwavering trust in return. I used to buy my food from Answers pet food. They are awesome but the prices skyrocked after covid hit. I can't afford them any more. So, now it's just a matter of a few shopping trips and a couple hours of work for two months of food that I put in our chest freezer. Worth it.

Canned veggies are a no no in my book. They are not that healthy for humans either. I don't feed my family canned veggies. Better to do frozen vegs I would say. Vitamins etc are more likely to be there. Having a meat grinder is awesome. Good basic guideline!

Thank you for this. I was thinking about a raw diet for my future 🐩 poodle. That grinder looks like the bomb!

I like celery seed myself: good in small quantities. They are putting a little rosemary in modern "natural" pet foods these days. The dry kibble usually.

Nice video. I have 2 german shepherds and I give them whole chicken leg quarters without grinding them. They are able to eat the whole pieces with no problems at all, and they are very healthy and happy. Maybe grinding would be beneficial for smaller dogs.

I really need a new grinder that will cope with bone. Do you feed whole bones and chunks of meat too? So good for their teeth and good as enrichment. My 7kg dogs love whole ribs etc....

Been doing raw with my present Fox Terrier since i got him as a puppy 3.25 years old now and his teeth are immaculately clean, no tarter or buildup. I also do a grind and use and old enterprise 32 i got off ebay used and got a flywheel snd put an electric motor on. I do a lot of the similar meat but some differences and most importantly is my dog gets one meaty bone for one of his meals every day which i think is why his teeth are so good. I give him a raw pork neck bone or a raw chicken leg or thigh. Its amazing how strong his jaws have become from having to eat raw meaty bones. As long as the pork or chicken is raw the bones do not become sharp and dangerous but i do not do turkey bones they are prone to becoming like large needles.
My mix is

10lbs chicken leg quarters whole
5lbs beef roast
5lbs pork butt
10 cans sardines or 1lb sockeye salmon
12 eggs
1 lb chicken or beef liver
1 lb chicken gizzards
1 lb beef or chicken hearts
1/2lb green beef tripe
Large can of cooked pumpkin
Canned beets
Fresh carrots
Jicama
Turnips
Blueberries
Various leafy greens like turnip, kale, collards or box of baby greens
Kelp powder

I grind it all together then hand mix in 5 gallon buckets then refigerate over night then use a large sausage stuffing attachment on meat grinder to filll 2 lb plastic sausage chubs.
I freeze the sausage chubs then cross cut the chubs on a wood bandsaw into perfect 4 oz servings perfect for his 2nd daily meal. I usually end up with about 6 months of food based on my formula. I think the plants are mostly important for gut health more than anything. I eat largely how i feed my dog with meat and vegetables as my foundation and lost 40 lbs eliminating all the sugar, starch, grain and high glycemic fruit. Whole food is how we and our pets should be eating not the garbage processed food made up largely of grain/seed.

Hello, I love everything you post, but I don't understand the reason you grind the bones and the meat. I used to feed my dogs with raw food, but I never grinded any of them. Many times I gave them even salmon or other fishes all together with the bones. They really loved chewing and cracking. Thank you for your answer in advance. ❤️❤️❤️

Canned veggies are not "full fresh veggies" but they are much better than the rotten waste used to make kibble.

Just a note, do take into consideration your dog's energy level. I have a 2 year old GSD who weighs in a little over 65 lbs and has the energy of a small nuclear sub. That being the case, I go with the 3% model (roughly 2lbs a day). Otherwise, I'm in total agreement with you. Thanks for sharing your method. Cheers!
