We stayed in a part of Nis that wasn't exactly inviting for a walk. There was a barking dog in front of every house, which was apparently kept there for security reasons. The area also seemed to be in a state of upheaval: old, dilapidated houses stood next to new buildings, memorials to socialism stood right in front of our eyes and towered into the sky: huge high-rise buildings that were obviously in a bad state. Everything looked like poverty and I noticed the many arcades and gambling shops.
