We're often asked if paying by credit card is a suitable substitute for wedding insurance.

It's true that payments of between £100 and £30,000 made by credit card are usually covered under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. However, only that particular transaction would be protected. If your venue went bust, for example, you wouldn't get help with the additional costs of rearranging the photographer, the florist, your cake or the wedding cars.

Section 75 cover wouldn't help you out with any public liability claims either.

So whilst credit card protection is a good start, it's no real substitute for a comprehensive wedding insurance policy.
