BlackBerry Passport vs. BlackBerry Classic - What's the difference?

Cam compares the two latest devices from BlackBerry. One's a new taste of the old familiar, and the other's a giant beast with impressive specs. But which one is best for you?

BlackBerry's new flagship has a huge, square 1440x1440 LCD display boasting a pixel density of 453ppi. The Classic is a more modest 720x720, 3.5-inch panel. Processor capabilities are vastly different too. While the Passport has a 2.26GHz quad-core 801-series Snapdragon CPU, the Classic has a 1.5GHz dual-core chip.

There's a huge difference in size, design and technologies involved. But there's still that familiarity of Blackberry. Granted, that's more evident in the Classic. But they are both unmistakably BlackBerry phones.

I was bb fan boy but after using bb strom then bb torch then bb bold i switched to iPhone 6 now i think it's time to come back to blackberry

Blackberry 10 is underrated. Its better then iOS and android. Lack of apps? I guess you haven't heard of SNAP or any other alternatives. Apple phones are boring, they emphasize too much on simplicity, and charge $600 for it, and android always has that lag/inconsistency with software updates. Give it a try before you judge :)

Its funny how people hate on BB so much..unlike android and iOS. BB completely redesigned there os which is a good plus.still bringing back the classic qwerty keyboard..don't want to use it then use the on screen or vice versa which is another plus. On the passport they integrated the track pad in the keyboard which correct me im wrong nobody has done before..another plus. Battery life has been pretty good considering the BB os is not a battery hog.So whats with all the hate? Because its not android..I see lots of post saying "if BB ran android it would be better" if that's the case then BB wouldn't be BB it would just be another android phone. The only real argument I have with BB is there lack of apps. Android and iOS has gone so far with apps that BB decided to use android run time on the os so you can load in your own android apps.

Been working the Passport for a while now...game changer for me.

I caught myself today turning away to the side of my desk to handle some emails on the phone rather than the laptop...its just easier. That with the remote access to work drives and remote real time process data leaves my lonely laptop used just for the heavier tasks of budget analysis duties and other large screen only duties.

I LOVE CAM so much he isn't biased he knows what he is doing (not saying the others don't) but I feel really intrigued when he talks about the phones and I feel like he knows what a good phone is

I love my classic. But I also love the Passport. The only really BIG problem I had with the Passport is that the signal sucks compared to the Classic. I have my phones with T-Mobile and I've tried using them in the same exact place. I notice the Classic always has LTE and my Passport is always struggling to get signal. I mean, of course it has 4G but not LTE. The Passport is always about 3-4 bars behind from the Classic. In that case, I chose the Classic because of the keyboard which is way better. And the signal. One thing that sucks about the Classic is the battery. I work 12 hour shifts and I always have to charge it at least once. The battery only lasts me 4-6 hours. Which really sucks. I listen to a lot of music mostly just have it running from Amazon's Spotify but it still isn't an excuse. When I use my Passport I literally can go 12-14 hour shifts without having to charge once.. Of course sometimes I do have to charge it. It all depends but most of the time it's good on one charge. In my opinion you need to chose what you like better. Passport: Bigger screen, more power, big ass battery, little to unusable signal, alright keyboard. Or Classic: Best keyboard ever. Smaller screen but still ok. Less power=Slower. Battery sucks. But always has really good signal for browsing the web or listening to music.

From your video, the Passport really does look more powerful than the Classic; duh, but like when you launched the Amazon App Store on the Classic earlier than the Passport, surprisingly the Passport displayed stuff from the app earlier than the Classic.

I love Blackberry to the point of obsession, but the Classic looks a bit too stuttery in its navigation, as if you would realize yourself waiting on several occasions, even running first-party apps, is that true?

i liked the "interaction row" on my desire z.
where all the keys and the trackpad lay. but BB did it way better. i hope to see that back in Android. with the added feature of fingerprint scanner on the track pad

Blackberry passport has a *really* clear display. 400 ppi.

Does somebody know how the volume of the speaker is during phone calls? I've already had enough issues with too silent phones and am interested in the Passport. Looks like it has many practical features.

Hello, i love both passport and classic, but which one to take for everyday life ?, the passport is very large or appears only in the video, classic is very nice. for internet passport is the best .... the wireless and telephone reception? .... advice ...

which feels smoother to type with? I have been using on screen keyboard for 3 years. I fear that it would be hard to use the classic. however, the classic provides the toolbar which I like. the passport however seems to be the most adored by brb users. I don't know which one to pick.
