So ZERO answer to the IPS vs. VA question from the title then?

imagine a 10900k and RTX 3090 hooked up to a single 21.5 inch 1080p TN panel

Is there a company that doesn't have a ridiculously confusing naming scheme for their monitors? eg Asus 27 inch QHD 144hz.

I've been trying to decide on a monitor for two solid days...

I completely understand the points behind chosing a VA or a TN. But as a kid one of the things i found the most annoying was the colkor shift on old screens that were not CRT. It wasn't until later that I learned that it was due to them being TN. As I grew up the feeling became worse, to the point I loved being in computers but couldn't do so in TN ones. All until i bought my first personal laptop, completely separated from the one ion the house(which also had an IPS) .

This made me fall in love with IPS, I didn't care about refresh rate or motion blur, the colors looked fantastic and not muffled like in a VA. When IPS displays became faster and more resposive, then cheapoer I was able to get the best screen I've had until now an IPS 1080p 144Hz AOC 24g2. Im incredibly happy with it, with the prospect of upgrading maybe to a 240Hz or a 1440p possible once my computer can actually take advantage of something like that. For now, I couldn't be happier.

Specially due to all the hoops i had to jump to get it. As soon as I saw the price and saw reviews I decided I wanted that monitor, I checked the amazon page daily for the bigger part of 2020 and a bit of 2019. it was always out of stock, and I never saw it below a 50% mark up that otehrs were selling. I kept looking but it was never on stock. Turns out that it was so desired due to its price (180$) Plus the adjustable stand and rotation that it often ran out of stock. I even found forums where people chatteds about whenm it wwas on stock and how they are alwys looking, some buying more than one and so. Not until this august I decided to check the page one morning to see it in stock at normal price, I ran to get my card when I saw it was already down to 12, by the time I was at check out there were 4. I manage to snag one for myself and honestly, I'm veryhappy with it.

I agree with the whole video except one thing:
What is the difference between a wet fish and a dry fish regarding impact on human flesh? I assume a wet fish would be harder to hold on to after the hit causes recoil, but is that a good trade off with the possible increase in the strength of impact? or is a wet fish more likely to remain a single piece after impact while wet? Is it an issue of cleanliness? Or do you mean you wanna use a living fish for combat? In that case it would be nice to return the fish to the sea after the conflict has resolved.

You guys are criminally under rated. I love the consumer perspective because end of the day it comes down to performance for money one can afford. Thank you so much

I partially bought my LG C9 OLED 55" in March because it would support 4K 120hz. Having purchased a 3080, they're almost unbelievable together, and I'll continue to use it for Flight Simulator or as an immersive experience for first-person shooters from time-to-time.

However, after some experimenting, it's not practical to serve as my TV/movie *and* my exclusive PC monitor. It's a tough decision as it's only used as a hobby PC, and not work, but a 4K 144hz IPS should be good for a long time.

Dell makes some nice, not too expensive but decent monitors also. Got myself last black friday a S3220DGF for less than 500$ and it's been an amazing experience so far. No flickering, no dead pixels, the stand seems really solid and beautiful colours. The ghosting isn't bad either but I don't really play fast paced games so some of you people may disagree with me.

I actually happen to have three monitors! My 39-inch 1080p LG TV is to watch videos, movies, etc. I have an Asus ProArt 24 inch, for work (Graphic Design), and a Dell Alienware Ultrawide 34 QOled for gaming! Each screen fits really well for my all my use scenarios.

Previously I had a $250 24'' 1080p 144hz Flat TN (Except it was a bad module so actually just 60hz), then early this year replaced it with a $250 27'' 1440p 144hz FreeSync Curved VA. I sit close to the monitor due to the small desk space available but this works well for me and I'm fairly satisfied with it so far and I don't personally have much interest in 4K monitors.

Just got a LG27GL850 (1440p). I was tracking it on Amazon and it cost around 440 GBP so roughly $450. A well known British tech store was selling the same monitor for 339 GBP, so I snapped it up straight away. I think it's a great deal and will use my current LG 1080p as a dual monitor in LG27GN850 was a full 100 GBP more just for a USB port. Other than that exactly the same monitor. So, my point is, you do get what you pay for but this time of year you get that little bit extra, so be patient and now is a great time to buy due to early black Friday deals.

I have a Viotek 32in 144hz curved monitor that I love. It's a VA monitor but the colors pop, the whites are quite white, and the blacks are deep. It was an adjustment to get use to a curved monitor, but I'm really loving it now 😊

I have a 5950x, RTX 3080 and I paired it with a £330 monitor. SAMSUNG curved 32" 2560x1440 144hz VA Freesync. I couldn't be happier with it. Sure I could get a better panel, but I see nothing wrong with this one. I previously had a 1080p IPS 144hz panel, and I definitely prefer this new screen.

Scientifically speaking people see different colors. I mean that in terms of how intense it seems to them in particular. That is a science fact. However, when it comes to chosing what is best...I would say that depends more on your needs.
If you are gaming refresh rates are unnoticeable over 100. The human eye on most people can't tell from 100 to 250. I would say it is more important the build, inputs, and something that allows you a wider range of color. And some decent brightness.

4 years in Film school you learn that things sometimes are expensive for no noticeable things.

Most people can't tell visually the difference between 720 and 1080.
I would say most people start noticing the difference only when they see it side to side.
I would say if you are on a 1080p jump to 4k. That is more noticeable.

Also make sure your color range is better. Also means that even if your eyes suck at recognizing colors that you will have the option of noticing smaller differences.

Brightness is important for contrast. But most importantly is to have true blacks. Then you will have a more traditional HDR feeling even if it doesn't have HDR.

Buy HDR. that is a must. Experiencing true blacks is the next step to a good visual experience.

That would be my take on this.
