I love pigeons. The feral ones look you right in the eye if you acknowledge them. Totally placid, innocent little beings just looking a bit of food and a connection with another person

I used to live next to a nursing home and I used to see this elderly handicapped man each day I walk outside. I called him pigeon man because all the pigeons in my neighborhood loved him, hung off him, ate food he gave them, slept on him, snuggled, he petted them. Man he was the best. Sadly I believe the first year of Covid took him away from us.

I find with a lot of “pest” animals like pidgeons, rats, squirrels, etc., they just wind up being considered pests because they’re intelligent and crafty enough to cause chaos lol

Hearing people call pigeons "pests" breaks my heart. Pigeons, doves (and just small birds in general) are some of the most innocent and beautiful creatures ever imo, its difficult to fathom how anyone can ever dislike them 😢

You took the words right out of my mouth. People seldom call stray kittens pests for pooping everywhere. While pigeons are called pests for it. They're sad stray animals just like cats and dogs. They deserve to be loved

I rescued one this summer. He had something tangled around a foot and it had him crippled to the point flying was hard. He is like a cat with feathers. He has a place with me for the rest of his life.

I have befriended a wild flock of pigeons and now when I feed them I have a couple come up on my hand

As a hunter who have hunted pigeons, I prefer how you explain them over how the world views them. They are an amazing animal, the grow to almost full size before loosing their down. They have a history of livestock with us. It's amazing they are not treated with more respect.
