I can't stress enough how important portion control is for weight loss. Even the healthiest foods can be really fattening if you overeat them. (Hello - nuts!) But weighing & measuring everything you eat is no fun, and hardly practical when you're eating out. So here is my handy guide to healthy portions, using common objects as comparisons. Now, wherever you are, you'll be able to visualise the correct portion size to lose weight.

Wow! I have been making my own portion sizes - and they are not nearly as small as the ones you showed. Gotta cut down. Thank you for helping me realize this. The smaller bowls & plates are a great idea.

Hi Lisa, it is so important to get the portion control into perspective. Your tips are so good. I remember the first time I found out the right portions and then I was like I didn't know at all. But little by little I learned. I have actually taken my tiny pocket scale and measuring spoons to a restaurant when I started. It was a bit obsessive but that is what helped me lose over 90 lbs. You are so right about using smaller plates, bowls if someone needs to lose weight. I love eating on my small square salad size plate and it is perfect for me. I eat a few times a day but not past 5 pm.. Great the way you talked about this and easy for others to understand❤️. Love you kitchen and my goodness, nothing is on the counters. I like that😍😍

Hello Lisa. I love watching your videos .You have given me hope that i could lose some wait now that I am 51. The only thing that I have lost after my attempt to eat healthier and exercise is confidence. I have gained a great amount of kilos and lots of disappointment. Now that I saw this video i think that maybe I have overeaten. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me how to exercise .Thanks again for your videos and your lovely smile.

Great way to convey those serving sizes. I of course believe in consuming the most nutrition possible at the end of the fork, BUT portion control does make it possible to eat a much wider range of foods and still achieve one's goals. Great video, Lisa! I love cheese, especially Havarti and white cheddar. However I try to cut down my serving sizes, but it’s hard. Visualizing a ping pong ball is a good idea. As are all the other food portion sizing and helpful tips!

Hi Lisa!! So basically I should never eat peanut butter☹️😩. We really should be eating like birds. This was very helpful. Could you please talk about intermittent fasting? It seems so trendy right now. Especially here in the mature community.

Great idea glad I love small spoons. Of course a clean house I love. I use to be the same way. Did not want my things showing on the counter. I thought it was just me. Then my husband said I need to that I was strange. Lol. I rather nothing on the counters. 💖

I struggled to lose weight despite exercising nearly everyday for 2 years!
This s because I eat 4-5 times more than recommending portion! If anything since I started the exercise, my appetite was increased I gained 4 kgs instead of losing it!
Thanks 4the portion control tip. The practical side will be hard, so use to overeating for many years!😭🤣👍

In america a serving size is 2 tablespoons for peanut butter. :)
