About :
Originating in the suburban embrace of Port-Au-Prince, specifically Petion-Ville, Les Difficiles de Pieton Ville was Robertino first band which he joined in 1966 at the age of 17. this group emerged in the late 60s as pioneers of a movement that stripped down the traditional, larger Haitian Meringue-Compas band. Armed with electric guitars, basses, drums, and a rich variety of percussion, they crafted a contemporary sound akin to rock bands. Simultaneously, they wove their own popular, religious, and folkloric traditions into an innovative, highly infectious Haitian musical style that resonated worldwide. This sonic evolution coincided with the era when the term "Jazz" encompassed various Haitian musical expressions, leading to the birth of "Mini Jazz" to describe these sleek and spirited ensembles. From the late 60s into the 70s, they wielded profound influence across Caribbean, European, and African musical landscapes. Haitian music's profound influence, enriched by countless creative luminaries, is a tapestry as intricate and vast as the stories it weaves. Men anpil, chay pa lou! (Many hands make the load lighter!)
