I had lots and lots of problems with mine from day one and it took a couple months to get it dialed in. Prusa support is terrible. Mine had quite a few problems that were caused by poor build quality at the factory. It’s great now, rarely fails and it used to fail almost every single print. The thermistors keep dying, 3 so far.

Sorry your printer hasn't been the experience that you wanted. I'm also sorry about these comments, while I do agree with them that the printer isn't a piece of junk, them saying "you don't know what you are doing" is just useless lol. I know that frustration can be a major cause to being stuck in one area. While it is currently a "$3500 paper weight" I would seriously step away from it for a few days and then come back to it, I have had to do that with printers before when I couldn't get it figured out. I have heard mixed things on Prusa support but I would say there is no harm in shooting them a message about it. I really do want one of the printers and am definitely considering purchasing one right now my only hold back is that I have heard really good things and really bad things about these printers, the only thing that keeps me thinking about buying one is that it is a Prusa product and they have brand reputation. I hope you get all your problems solved and that it prints beautiful!

I had the same problems. I had to change the cable between the board and the print head. After that, it worked again.

we have 5 of them now for a couple of months not a single failure while just doing step by step everything what the manual says not thinking we know it better with lots of people would have enough expirience for this but just keeping it simple.

In general it has been a lemon. Compared to the other stuff I have in the fleet the Prusa XL has been garbage. It doesn’t just work, it’s always something.

Prusa has abandoned this platform already. No software upgrades since the summer. The enclosure is a total afterthought. The multicolor printing works 1 out of 10 times because no matter how much you calibrate it the heads are references to each other and it just doesn’t work well. And all the promised features, like different nozzle sizes per head.. never going to happen. Can’t print high temp stuff with it out of the box and the fact it can’t print at 300 and will never do 350 means a lot of more technical filaments it can’t do.

Sorry to be blunt but I have over 5k into this piece of garbage. It’s down again as it just decides to stop layer adhesion and trashed a nozzle and a fan. That’s right because it’s not smart enough to know because it lacks any type of AI detection that was also promised.

You look at an x1 or a k2 and you think Prusa is so far behind. I know the fan boys hate hearing this but the printers aren’t good. I just replaced someone’s mk4 that wasn’t working with an A1 and the response was where has this been all my life. Prusa needs to do better.

Instead of recording this rant, you could've contacted prusa support. They are very helpful and will try to get it fixed. If not, they will take it back to ensure you have a functional printer.

Junk, no, but I feel like a beta tester. It has more quirks than Doug DeMuro would care to list. I am way way too preoccupied and have the printer running a lot, but on my to do list is to contact prusa and try to work with them on this thing. There is a great printer in there. I've done amazing prints. But it needs user feedback and fixes.

I had this very same issue the other day and it turned out the filament was brittle/ stale. Did you try another head or filament?

I have had mine for 6 months. I have had a couple of fails. But otherwise has been amazing

It's so annoying this is the only multi-Head printer on the market. A Voron Multi-head printer has to be custom built.

i have one of these, it has done a few odd things but generally i get good results, did you try repeating on the second printhead? maybe bad gcode?? good luck with finding the problem

If you need a toolchanger, maybe take a look at MakerTech's offerings. Although on the downside they only offer kit only so you would have to take the time to build it.

The filliment is broken on the extruder and wont feed that was your issue
