Quick Correction: When I said that the masterclass did not include poems from writers of color and queer poets, I had totally forgotten that Hart Crane was a member of the LGBT community. In addition, it is pretty much confirmed that Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman were queer. If there are any other omissions that I have made, please let me know in the comment section below.

I would’ve came down harder on those critiques, especially about representation but I do understand that he was most likely pulling from his own list of muses. I tend to ride those kind of excuses less these days but that’s why there’s people like us to fill in that gap ✊🏽

I met Billy Collins at a reading in Memphis At Rhodes College. He is just as cool in person as he is in his poetry. Love him.

Youngblood, I took this class from Collins and Joy Harjo's. I think you will like her class and I would be interested to hear what you think. I would love more poets of color on Master Class as well like Shara McCallum, Cornelius Eady, Yusef Komunyakaa, and a dozen others. I wish some scholars would examine the genius of Lucille Clifton since she is done with the trouble of the world. Are you a poet? Have any small samples? Just curious. No one should eye-hustle work for free. Anyway, keep up the good work.
