Big Little Lies did a great portrayal of intimate partner violence with Kidman and Skarsgard. This isn’t giving me the same vibe.

They are forced to watch all these bad movies and their soul is still intact to their bodies... I am gratefull for their sacrifice...

This author makes all of her characters rich with no real explanation. They all have this free time and money, and the men have some stereotypical professions the women think are "sexy." It's often done in a way that feels very ungrounded to me...

To me the most unbelievable is that Ryle let her go with the baby. Ryle would use their daughter for control

The one problem I have with your reviews is that you look at films the exact same way I do. I could not watch your Deadpool review because you were pulling off my rose colored glasses. You were pointing out everything I was trying to just “let go”. I’m making this point to say that I really trust your reviews. You aren’t sugar coating it.

This sounds like it should have been a Netflix movie.

I wouldn't be confident the book is better, since it's written by Colleen Hoover.

The part y'all were talking about, about how did she let herself get finessed by him as a smart strong woman, is excatly what they were trying to show. So many people think of victims of abuse as being weak, meek, women who have nothing realy going on. And that's not always the case. Abuse comes in all shapes & colors & sizes so to speak. I was a very strong, independent woman who was super picky about any man I dated. And never in a million years did I think i'd find myself in an abusive relationship. Cut to me being about 28-29 & finding myself in my first (and only!) abusive relationship. It stayed 5 years. I was the primary bread winner, I owend my own car, I paid my own rent, I didn't "need" a man like so many women of abuse, so i'm not your stereotypical "abuse victim". that's one of the few things I did like about this that it shows anyone can become a victim/survivor or abuse.

According to an interview, I saw on YouTube the author of the book asked Justin Baldoni to play the main male character in the book as well as direct. He just wanted to direct the movie, but she asked him to play the role and he did.

It's a lot easier for her to make a clean break than the average person. Her ex is a neurosurgeon, so child support wouldn't be an issue even if her mother is independently wealthy. She owned her own business. His family took her side. And to boot, she had an attractive guy waiting in the winds. He even owns his own business.

It would have been more interesting and realistic if they struggled for money or he kept her financially dependent on him.

He also does an about face at the end without being threatened with legal action, getting arrested, or at least being exposed as violent in a public way.

It is so amazing that you guys saw Stevie Wonder in person. I am incredibly envious.

Apparently, Blake Lively had the film reedited and the film you saw is her edit. Also the wardrobe was her own and her husband wrote some scenes while the screenwriter was on strike??? Glad I didn't see this one. You guys are so deadpan and I love it! So much shade! 😎
