That is just sick how Phelp's knee bends like that. Lenny proves you don't need for great underwater work, though. Lenny was great.

When doing underwaters, think of yourself like you are some strange aquatic creature that he a very rigid body from the ribcage up, and are very whip-like from the waist down. How much you should bend is just something to be experimented with.

1:15 ... "the upper body does not move" ... *his upper body IS moving*. Up and down. Quite obviously. :) Sure, the energy starts from the core, but your chest is attached to your core. It's gonna move, just like MP's upper body does in the video. Trying to keep the chest rigid and still just stifles the movement of the core. Don't take my word for it - watch the video.

His legs confuse me... How far apart do they need to be? I usually just keep them close when I start

@ihaveabox Slowly exhaling through your nose keeps water from going up it.

Lochte is better under water kicker. In short course Lochte seems to have longer under waters then Phelps does.

double jointed or rubber man. it stinks. his feet are huge, his knees and toes are like rubber. amazing. then again people with abnormal ranges of flexibility always excel. Peter Sampras could touch his shoulder blades together which allowed him to use his arm like a whip and serve 130 mph aces over and over againl.

well actually this video is wrong, very wrong you do have upper body movement but you just move your tummy so you'r knees don't bend and if you don't you go way slower.
