This is what we used to do to “back up” our game libraries. This little device is the Game Doctor 7. It was only available overseas and it left you with a giant collection of floppy discs.. which if you didn’t want to mow lawns all summer was still cheaper than a shelf full of game carts.

As a gamer since 3 on the GameCube I’m so fulfilled and full of joy how much game preservation has progressed over the year albeit through us but.. yah know
Keep em coming!

I've still got my one, it's called the super wild card.
It still works and I love it.

Never saw that, but I had homies who could play ps1 games off cds. No idea how hard or easy that was to do, but it was cool as hell.

You're right, never seen or heard of that? How did the cool kids hear about or get those back in the day?

My brother had a game doctor when we were growing up.

Man, it's insane how far we've come. I grew up during the 90s so I saw emulation slowly become more and more relevant, but its mindblowing that something like this was even available to the public as a commercial product back then

Would have been an extremely popular kid to have that

Dude every Christmas we got floppies in our stockings and spend the next 4-6 hours all sharing games. The parents saved money and friendships were had. Analog video gaming will and always is superior.

I remember a kid at the end of my road having one, it was the weirdest thing I'd ever seen

Growing up in the 90’s none of my friends had computers. The only place we saw then was at school. At that time they were expensive and not really needed until the internet got popular in 1997

Copying games was something we did as standard from the days of the Amstrad or Sinclair, this was done on tapes. If anyone got a new game, it was lent out so that we could copy it to tape. And then we changed to floppy disks especially for the SNES

I remember buying an adapter for my NES that you'd plug a PAL game into that allowed to to play a US or JPN game through it. Blew my mind when I was younger. I can literally just play them on my phone now.
