Expanding Fetal Cardiology Care Through Telemedicine
Показать описание
Fetal cardiology plays an important role in diagnosing congenital heart disease. Through telemedicine, we can provide better access to fetal cardiology and improve our ability to provide an earlier diagnosis.
Every year, congenital heart disease affects approximately 40,000 births in the United States. Of these, about 1 in 4 of infants are considered critical and require surgery during the newborn period. An early fetal diagnosis greatly improves the outcomes of children born with congenital heart disease.
With telemedicine, providers can meet pregnant patients where they’re at, when traveling may present physical, emotional and mental challenges. Our team believes providing care closer to home is essential for high quality care that impacts both the mother and baby.
In this video, fetal cardiologist Camila Londono Obregon, MD, explains how our telemedicine program brings high quality fetal cardiology care directly to patients in their local communities.
