How Do You Stay in Shape When You Travel SO Much??

Spoiler Alert: I don’t go to the gym and I have a lot of carbs and wine…but also like, no one carries my heavy luggage or dog, I have 0 attention span to lay around to relax, and I don’t teleport to all of the mountains I trek or seas I swim in. 🙃
That travel math adds up to how I stay so fit when I’m always traveling: I stay extremely active.
While I know my lifestyle isn’t the most relatable, I just want to point out a few things anyone can do to avoid “getting out of shape” when you travel.
- Instead of just laying around at the beach or pool, go swim in the water, and do it often.
- Walk EVERYWHERE. My greatest workout is walking! Try flexing your abs and booty while you walk for an extra workout!
- Do more activities and less lounging
- Sign up for local dance lessons
- Just dance in general!
- If eating local food is a big part of your travels, pick restaurants far from your hotel so you’re forced to walk
- Don’t try to diet a few days then binge eat. Be consistent with your portions.
- Do some workout videos in your room (mine are coming soon!)
Also knowing what kind of food your body prefers helps. I’ve tried eating more fruits and veggies and I gain weight…yet pasta makes me leaner. Thank you SO much to my random genetics.
Oh and I just want to emphasize that I always am carrying a bag with all of my travel gear and laptop (probably 20 pounds) and usually carrying my 14 pound dog. 💪
