I think I actually love line cliches, I gravitate towards them alot everytime I play around after practicing my keys

I’ve been writing with this technique for a while without knowing what it’s called, thanks a lot man

record a random descending bass line and play around it with random voicings, you'll find endless beautiful opportunities there. descending bass has something primal and natural about it, everyone loves it

I just thought of this concept as a
Walking bass line. But never thought about keeping the he chords the same and have a traveling melody

I completely agree witheverything in this video except i would have to say that changing the voicing of the progression can be extremely useful as a transition. It is pretty common in metal, especially with songs that have clean/acoustic introductions.

That's actually a really beautiful sound. I will try to remember chromatic embellishment of static harmony!

George Harrison used them in bunch of songs and it sounds wonderful each time. ❤

It's nice to see someone play the Stairway To Heaven chord sequence correctly. The fourth chord in the sequence is NOT D Maj, it's D/F#. Even the great Steve Vai made this error when I was watching a video of him with Dweezel Zappa. He was going through the exercise book that he wrote in when he was giving Dweezel guitar lessons, and the Stairway chords had the fourth chord as D Maj.

My Funny Valentine is the most famous example of the chromatic descent.

The dancing harmony above the constant chord... It seems to bring more importance to the chord
