First time I EVER went snowboarding was at Crystal Mt in Washington state. My idiot friends thought it’d be a GREAT idea to take me up on a DOUBLE BLACK FIRST RUN EVER.
Needless to say this did NOT end well for me. I maybe made it down 1000ft before I twisted my knee up so bad I couldn’t put any weight on it.
Friend says take your board off and we’ll look at it. I do. Bye bye board. Friend does me a solid takes off after it, (rental) leaves me there unable to walk. I’m terrified.
Ski patrol finds me 30 minutes later. I tell them about the board because they’re like wtf. I say it’ll be back up shortly. 5 minutes go by, see my friends boarding down to our position my friend carrying by board absolutely DESTROYS himself and goes scorpion X3 right in front of patrol. Looking back I’m not sure why ski patrol waited for my friends to get back with my board considering I COULDNT F***ING WALK.
Anyways I end be hurled down the mountain at Mach 4 on a toboggan being pulled by what it felt like Santa’s magical reindeer (1 ski patrol) but when I tell I was holding on for dear life I sh*t you not I was holding as a tight as a literal could and I was still being thrown around.
Knee ended up being fine but very twisted.
I didn’t let it ruin my experience and I have gone every year since. 8 years ago.

Somehow the last run of the day is always the best run. I guess u don’t know how good u got it till it’s gone (or going)
That… or it’s just cause everyone’s off the mountain, and u pick the best run of the day for a long shot from top to bottom (with little bit of a buzz 😂)

The first clip happened to me. It was my second time ever snowboarding so I was still learning and I had a really bad wipeout. I unbuckled and my board slid away. No way I could've caught it because I had fractured my ankle and sprained my knee making me unable to move fast enough. Thank goodness for the kid who saw it and started walking up the slope with both our boards to find me and give it back. ❤
