Upgrade an old or dead bathroom ventilation fan with a newer, larger model. The EZfit models from NuTone come with a template to make for a larger hole and all installation can be done in the bathroom. No need to crawl around in the attic!

You make it look easy but it took me over 6 hours. There were many, many complications including the hose was not long enough so I had to get up in the attic to connect it after installing the fan in the ceiling. The electric cable wasn't long enough to connect them from the bathroom either. To get the old fan out you have to get up into the attic and remove the screws because it was installed when the house was built and before the ceiling was installed. I had to go to home depot to buy the hose reducer and cable clamp. Working in the attic was a major undertaking trying to get to the fan and working in that cramped, hot space with air polluted by fiberglass particles and having to watch where you step. Attaching the new fan to the joist with 4 screws took a lot of effort. Sawing the ceiling to new dimensions took a lot of time. I had to go to the old attic fan 4 different times just to prepare the area for the new fan because there were many things to do like remove the staple from the cable so it would be long enough. Have you ever tried to remove a cable stable? It's tough. I had to go to the store and buy anew tool(a large screwdriver and a needle nose vise grips) for that one. Very challenging job but I got it it done without hurting myself or breaking anything else.

I installed this in 12 seconds less than the 53 seconds it took the guy in the video.
It could have been his first time. I installed a Bluetooth speaker and some colored LEDs in the enclosure with the extra time I saved.
Now I just need a kegerator in that bathroom and I’m a singing fool.
